2010 Tour de France - The Prologue

See Also: The Contenders

prologue - Rotterdam Rotterdam 8.9 km

We kick of in Holland this year, Rotterdam to be exact.  The first ever foreign start in the Tour was in the Netherlands in 1954.  This is the Third Grand Tour in a row (2009 Vuelta and 2010 Giro) to have started in Holland - not sure whats going on there.......

The course is largely straight and flat. Hardly technical and at just under 9km in length, it is going to be won by a specialist and that should be........

Fabian Cancellara

http://reviews.roadbikereview.com/files/2008/07/corvos_fabian-cancellara.jpgPure and simple the best Time Trial rider in the world. Triple world champion & Olympic champion. He has won the Tour de France prologue three times in the past (plus two other stages).  This year he has been in stunning form in the one day classics, winning his 2nd Paris-Roubaix, the Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders) and the E3 Prijs Vlaanderen – Harelbeke as well as the Tour of Oman.  He has been beaten in a Time Trial just once this year (Tony martin - Tour de Suisse) and once last year (Contador TdF).

No point looking anywhere else.  Should win.

Although IF (and thats a big if) the winner is to come from elsewhere maybe:
Tony Martin (HTC-Columbia)
Brad Wiggins (Sky)
Lars Boom (Rabobank)
or even
Alberto Contador (Astana) - he gets to go last, although im fairly sure he will not want to be in Yellow this early.
